GUIDE · AIunipedia Community
A small business does not need to begin with an autonomous agent. A focused assistant that answers a few common questions accurately can be a more useful first project.
Begin with the policy-grounded prompt template, then check each proposed response against your business rules. A useful support assistant knows which questions need a person.
Start with an approved FAQ
List recurring enquiries about delivery, opening hours, returns and product availability. Assign an owner to each answer. Note which facts change frequently and which questions require a person.
Use fictional data for the initial prototype. Do not connect customer records or enable outgoing messages simply to make a demonstration look more impressive.
A bounded pilot
Choose one channel and one category of enquiry. Test direct questions, paraphrases, missing details and requests outside the assistant's remit. Require the system to identify missing information rather than invent a policy.
Record answer support, unresolved enquiries, editing time and the number of cases passed to a person. Compare against the existing manual process. A pilot is worthwhile when it improves a real outcome at a cost the business can sustain.
Plan the handoff
Specify what the assistant passes to a human and what the customer sees. Keep enough context to avoid making the customer repeat everything, without exposing information to the wrong staff member.
Product claims, current availability and commercial commitments still need an authoritative source. The model's draft is not that source.
Discussion: If you could automate only one recurring customer question this week, what would it be and how would you check the answer?
