GUIDE · AIunipedia Community
A question such as “Why is my AI app wrong?” gives other members very little to investigate. A useful troubleshooting post narrows the failure enough that someone can reproduce it or explain what evidence is missing.

Goal: What should the system do?
Setup: Tool/model, relevant version and deployment environment.
Input: A small anonymised example.
Expected result: What should have happened?
Actual result: What happened instead?
Attempts: What have you already changed?
Constraints: Budget, latency, privacy, hardware or skill limits.
Question: What specific decision or fault needs help?
For a retrieval problem, include the expected source passage and the passages actually retrieved. For a prompt problem, include the instruction and the relevant output. For a deployment problem, include a short redacted error message rather than an entire log file.
Help people help you
Use a descriptive title: “RAG returns an outdated delivery policy after reindexing” is more useful than “Urgent help please”. Put unrelated problems in separate discussions. Explain whether sample data is fictional, public or shared with permission.
Do not publish API keys, login cookies, passwords, private customer records or confidential documents. Replacing a person's name may not be enough if the rest of the record identifies them.
When something solves your problem, return with the actual fix and its limits. That makes the thread useful to the next person searching for the same issue.
Discussion: Which missing detail most often prevents you from helping someone debug an AI project?
